PARCS Thermal Hydraulics Coupling Plug-in
The PARCS Thermal Hydraulics Coupling Plug-in is a feature plug-in for SNAP that maps hydraulic components and heat structures in TRACE to PARCS assembly locations. This plug-in requires both the TRACE and PARCS plug-ins.
The PTHC dialog can be accessed through the tools menu when a TRACE model is selected. This dialog displays the existing PARCS maps, and allows for modifying the properties of the selected maps, as well as exporting existing and creating new maps.
To create a new PARCS mapping, press the 'Add' button on the PTHC dialog. This opens the creation dialog whith will presents the user the option to create a blank BWR map, a blank PWR map, or import an existing MAP file.
When selecting either a blank BWR map or a blank PWR map, the user is required to select an open PARCS model, which provides both the axial and radial geometry used for the PTHC mapping. The BWR map allows the user to select the hydraulic components inside the model, and map the components to an assembly location. The PWR map requires the user to select a vessel component inside the TRACE model.
Importing an existing MAP file will create a mapping inside the TRACE model that has the same map data as found inside a selected automatic mapping file. The import process automatically determines whether the mapping is BWR or PWR, and processes the VOLRMAP2 array appropriately ( as hydraulic component numbers for BWR and Vessel planar indexes for PWR).
Once the mapping has been created, the user may modify its properties by selecting the mapping in the PTHC dialog. The property view in the bottom of the dialog displays the intersection of values from the selected mappings. An ASCII view for each mapping may be opened by pressing the VIEW button inside the table.
Selecting the Export button from the PTHC dialog allows the user to export the currently selected map file to an ASCII text file.
Please note that the PTHC plug-in is included as an optional package in the SNAP Version 0.27.0 installation.
Change Log
Version 1.0.2 - Released 3/23/2009:
- An issue was resolved where BWR stability configurations were not being saved prior to exporting perturbation cases.
- An issue was resolved where transient MOVE_BANK data was not being properly generated for control rod perturbations.
- A series of help messages were added to identify cases where no pressure perturbation controllers can be located.
