  • The kinetics time step control flux extrapolation option can now be set to 2 (linear flux extrapolation).
  • The input specification for the Krylov Solution Algorithm Order of Precursor Integration (30000010 Word 1) was determined to be incorrectly stated in the RELAP5-3D User's Manuals.  The correct description for this input (from the RELAP5-3D 4.4.2 User's Manual) is:

Order of precursor integration. A value of 1 selects first-order (linear) precursor
integration; this value is recommended if W5 on this card is set to 1.0 (implicit). A value
of 2 selects second-order (quadratic) precursor integration; this value should only be used
if W5 on this card is set to 0.5 (Crank-Nicolson). The default value is 1.

This has been corrected for all code versions. Imported or saved models which have a zero value specified for this input will have the value converted to 1 (Linear).

  • An error check was added which reports an error when the mesh plane interior boundary condition flag is not set to either 0 or 3 (Card 30000003 Word 8 Nodal Kinetics Control Information).

These properties were intended to be used by the sub-system integration system to ensure that only "Exportable" sub-systems could be imported into other models and only "Imported" sub-systems could be directly updated. These restrictions proved to be cumbersome and unintuitive. Any sub-system can now be used in a sub-system integration.
  • A sub-system integration command has been added to allow integrations to be performed via the batch command interface. This will make the integration process available to other applications that either load the Model Editor as a library or communicate via batch command. The SUB_SYS_IMPORT command will update the sub-system with given name in either the current model or the model with the given label.
  • SUB_SYS_IMPORT <Mn> "[target sub-system name]" "[filename]" "[source sub-system name]"
  • Any messages reported during the integration process will be displayed in the Message Window (if one is available) and in the Model Editor’s screen file. These messages include those that would be reported if the integration was performed in the user interface as well as new error messages reported by the SUB_SYS_IMPORT command.
  • A new Integration Case component has been added to the SNAP core and enabled for the RELAP and TRACE plug-ins. The Integration Case component represents a pre-defined set of sub-system integrations performed in the specified order. The set of integrations will be performed when the case is graphically edited (much like restart cases) and when the case is exported to a local file.
  • The "EXPORT CASE" command has been updated to support sub-system integration using the Integration Case component. This will allow integration cases to be applied and the full model exported to a file in batch mode using the following syntax:
    • RELAP EXPORT CASE <label> "[case name]" "[filename]"
  • The RELAP-specific sub-system integration system was updated to eliminate several edge cases that could cause drawn components in the master model to be lost when updating views after an integration.
  • Support for the SNAP Validation display has been added to the RELAP plug-in. This display includes the contents of the current model in ASCII format (as shown in the ASCII Viewer) and a toolbar that indicates the current cursor location and a brief description of the input at that location. Clicking on a supported portion of the input will update the cursor location and enable the "Open Editor" toolbar button. Pressing the "Open Editor" button will open the graphical editor corresponding to the current cursor location.
  • Note that the ASCII Viewer displayed by the "Show ASCII" feature also includes the Validation Display selection and "Open Editor" features.

  • The heat structure Axial Power / Heating property has been updated to allow referencing a table variable to define the table values. This update allows for mapping individual table variable columns to match the required axial power heating table entries. Model validation errors will be reported if the table variable does not have the correct number of rows or the column mapping is invalid.
  • The pipe, annulus, and prizer components now allow defining the geometry calculation mode on a per cell basis. This option is enabled by selecting "By Cell' in the calculate options provided in the geometry dialog for these components. When the "By Cell" option is selected, a Calculate column is added which provides the option of defining the calculate option for each individual cell in the component.

problems, card 199 debugging options, and 2006 Groeneveld CHF correlation.
  • The following series of UI improvements were made to better identify issues encountered in RELAP5 models:
    • Heatstructure surface cell references which identify missing cell, table, or control references are now
written to the ASCII file as Unknown. This solves an issue where a zero value would be written and the UI
      displayed an error message.
    • An error message is now written to the model report dialog when a material has no entries defined for its
      table/functions.
    • An error message is included for Logical Trip components to identify situations where a trip has less than 2 input connections.
    • A model check will now be performed automatically prior to exporting a model from the file export menu. When errors are encountered A dialog will be displayed which will allow the user to view the error report, proceed with export, or cancel the export process.
  • A typo was corrected for the Restart-Plot Input File Control compression flag where the value was being written as compress (should be cmpress).
  • Model error checks have been added to ensure that max timestep values must be greater than or equal to the minimum value and greater than 0.0.
  • The RELAP-3D wrapper module has been modified to ensure that the light-water property file is automatically included when executing a model that does not explicitly specify the fluid in a loop.
  • An issue was resolved which could cause a restart case of a British model to switch to SI units when opening the restart case for graphical editing.
  • The 3D kinetics model was updated to resolve an issue where the Fission Decay Yield Spectrum table would only have two columns when four neutron groups are defined.
  • The 3D Kinetics model has been updated to allow specifying the krylov solution group-wise albedo ratios when all the boundary interfaces besides the inner mesh are set to 4 (albedos). An error message has been added if any of the one of the boundary conditions is set to albedos, but the any of the required boundaries are not set toalbedos.
  • The NODPOWER print control option has been disabled. This option was added for an unsupported code version.
  • The loop checker algorithm has been updated to support verifying connections through a multiple junction component.
  • An issue has been resolved with the model notebook generation which could result in components that are only connected to a hydro system using a multiple junction component being listed in a generic hydro system.
  • Full core Hexagonal support has been re-added as a Nodal Kinetics geometry option.
  • The valve component was updated to move the face placement options into a tab in the geometry dialog, making it consistent with all the other components that support the face placement data.
  • The ASCII import logic for variable trips has been updated to correctly determine the units of the additive constant before creating a numeric variable reference when a UNIX substitution variable is defined. The variable tripsupport was updated to revise how the units for the additive constant are determined. The units are obtained from the firstnon-null input source. This resolves an issue where the units of the additive constant change after a copy/paste operation or a sub-system import when a trip is connected to a null signal source.
  • The ASCII I/O routines have been modified to prevent displaying an error message which indicates that the 80 character input limit has been exceeded for a line when the line includes a comment character before the 80 character limit. This allows comments to exceed the limit without causing an error message.
  • The channel selection editor used by animation plug-in Display Beans was updated to allow channels to be grouped by type (i.e. prefix). For example: The RELAP5 pressure channels (p-*) are now displayed as a singlerow in the selection window that can be expanded to show all of the pressures.

  • An issue was resolved where group 3 volume region data in a GEN feedback nodal kinetics model was being added to group 2 volume region data.
  • An issue was resolved that caused the flexible wall area to be lost during copy-paste of a single flexible wall
    component.
  • An issue has been resolved that would cause an error when attempting to export a model notebook that includes 2D component renderings while running the model editor in headless mode.
  • The dialog for editing the extra deck data of model options was updated to be non-modal. This allows the rest of the user interface to function while the dialog is open. Additionally this dialog uses the same syntax highlighting as the ASCII views, and includes a margin line indicating the 80 character limit.
  • The "Show ASCII" feature for a sub-system was updated to more closely match the formatting used when exporting a full ASCII input model.
  • The Multi-Junction geometry, initial conditions, and friction editing dialogs will now display connection information for each of its junctions.
  • The process for retrieving initial conditions from completed RELAP5-3D runs has been modified to support the extraction of temperature values from the output file for RELAP5-3D version 4.3.1. Changes to the output format in version 4.3.1 prevented SNAP from parsing this data.

  • The heatstructure axial power/heating editor was updated to support source format types 5,6,7, and 8 for all heatstructures which define a heat source.
  • The Notebook export logic has been updated to change how the check box options defined in the Friction property Cell Options table and the Geometry property Junction table are exported. Checkbox editors that correspond to integer ASCII values export in the notebook in the form of true (#) when selected, and false (#) when unselected. The # corresponds to the ASCII number that will be included in the ASCII input.
  • The junction CCFL model reference in the model notebook has been revised. If any junction inside the component contains a reference to an internal CCFL model, all the junctions will export their CCFL reference with a link to the CCFL model description. Any junction without a CCFL model will write out the text None. If a component has no CCFL model references, the CCFL model property will not appear in the Junction Geometry Data report table. Several optimizations were added to the "Show ASCII" feature for RELAP5 components.
  • The Point Kinetics Volume Weighting feedback table editor now provides multi-edit, copy-paste, and shared numeric reference capabilities.
  • The Resource File Import/Export feature was updated to include Sub-Systems and Owner/Reviewer information.
  • Restart cases in RELAP models now include an independent set of extra deck data that is kept separate from the base models extra deck data. The extra deck data can be edited when the restart case is selected in the navigatoror when graphically editing the restart case by changing the extra deck data in model options. A text comment delimiter has been created that indicates that the cards after a predefined point should be included as extra deck data.
  • Control blocks and Trips can now display a text summary of the equation they represent. These summaries are automatically included in the model notebook. A flag has been added to the Control Blocks and Trips nodes in the navigator, which includes the text summary as a comment in the components ASCII. Additionally the 2D drawing of a control block or trip has an option in the right-click popup menu to display the summary text through a pop-up dialog.
  • The notebook exporter has been updated to include a note after the summary tables for heat structures andhydraulic components indicating that the summary table values are calculated.
  • The expanded plot requests editor was improved and now supports those signal variables which allow a -1 parameter value.
  • The 2D hydraulic component rendering in views and property editing dialogs has been modified. The rendering angle for each volume has been modified to use a calculated angle based on the ratio between DZ and cell length when the DZ is explicitly specified. When the full 3D position change matrix is used, the DZ along the X axis is used. If the explicit DZ value is not specified, the vertical angle is used instead.
  • The input connections property editor for control blocks and trips have been modified to be enabled while performing a GUI edit of a restart case.
  • The notebook exporter has been updated to change how numerics variable references appear. Whenever a variablereference is used inside a component, the name and current value for the variable are written to the notebook. The name field appears highlighted in blue, and a cross-reference to the numeric variable reference is included after the value. When appropriate, engineering units are included in the display.

  • The logic for importing a completed RELAP job into the calculation server has been updated to support parsing the output file for the heat structure temperature data.
  • The Multiple junction component was updated to include a flag that enables compression of the junction data on export. If this flag is set to TRUE, the junctions will be compressed into sets with the smallest possible number of sets created. If this flag is set to FALSE, each junction will be exported explicitly. Junction signal variables will automatically adjust to match the junction numbers being output. The compress flag defaults to TRUE, but is initialized during an ASCII import to match whether the imported multiple junction used a compressed format.
  • The junction control variables were updated to report a message during an ASCII import if they are connected to a multiple junction that will export with a different set number than the original file.
  • The General Table export check error message for identifying max number of allowed table data pairs is now displayed when more than 10000 data pairs are entered.
  • The model notebook export has been modified to include references to model notes that are linked to component name, component number and description fields. These references are included in the report immediately after the description text for each component.
